We are seeking a skilled and motivated Fire Alarm and Detection Technician to join our team of professionals dedicated to ensuring fire safety through the installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of fire alarm and detection systems. As a Fire Alarm and Detection Technician, you will play a crucial role in designing, installing, and maintaining cutting-edge fire alarm systems that protect lives and property in various residential, commercial, and industrial settings.

Responsibilities:

​

  • System Installation: Collaborate with team members to design and install fire alarm and detection systems in compliance with industry standards, manufacturer guidelines, and local codes.

  • Wiring and Components: Install and connect wiring, control panels, sensors, detectors, alarms, and other components to create comprehensive and reliable fire alarm systems.

  • Testing and Calibration: Conduct thorough testing and calibration of fire alarm systems to ensure their proper functioning. Diagnose issues and perform necessary adjustments to optimize system performance.

  • Maintenance and Repairs: Perform routine maintenance and inspections of existing fire alarm systems. Identify malfunctions, faulty components, or wiring issues and rectify them promptly to ensure continuous operation.

  • Troubleshooting: Analyze complex technical problems in fire alarm systems and implement effective solutions to restore functionality. Utilize diagnostic tools and equipment to identify root causes.

  • Documentation: Maintain accurate and organized records of system installations, repairs, tests, and maintenance activities. Prepare detailed reports and recommendations for clients and internal teams.

  • Client Interaction: Communicate with clients to explain system functionalities, demonstrate proper usage, and provide guidance on fire safety best practices.

  • Training: Provide training to clients and end-users on the operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of fire alarm systems.

Qualifications:

​

  • Experience: Previous experience as a Fire Alarm Technician or in a related role is preferred. Relevant experience in electrical systems, low voltage, or electronics is valuable.

  • Technical Skills: Proficiency in the installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of fire alarm and detection systems. Familiarity with different types of fire alarm panels, devices, and control systems.

  • Electrical Knowledge: Understanding of electrical circuits, wiring principles, and low voltage systems. Knowledge of NFPA 72 standards is a plus.

  • Analytical Mindset: Ability to diagnose complex technical issues, identify root causes, and implement effective solutions.

  • Communication: Excellent communication skills to convey technical information clearly to team members, clients, and end-users.

  • Safety Compliance: Adherence to safety protocols and regulations while working on-site. Prioritization of safety for oneself and others.

  • Certifications: Relevant certifications such as NICET (National Institute for Certification in Engineering Technologies) or manufacturer-specific certifications are beneficial.

  • Physical Stamina: Ability to work in various environments, lift and carry equipment, and perform tasks requiring physical agility.
