We are currently seeking a diligent and detail-oriented Life and Fire Safety Inspector to join our team in the crucial task of evaluating and ensuring compliance with fire safety regulations and life safety codes. As a Life and Fire Safety Inspector, you will play a pivotal role in conducting thorough inspections, identifying potential hazards, and promoting safety measures to protect lives and property in various residential, commercial, and industrial environments.

Responsibilities:

​

  • Inspection Conduct: Conduct comprehensive inspections of buildings, facilities, and structures to assess their compliance with fire codes, life safety regulations, and industry standards.

  • Code Compliance: Evaluate fire protection systems, emergency exit plans, evacuation routes, fire alarms, sprinkler systems, and other safety equipment to ensure they meet regulatory requirements.

  • Reporting: Prepare detailed inspection reports outlining findings, violations, and recommendations for corrective actions. Maintain accurate records of inspections and follow-up activities.

  • Education and Training: Provide guidance to property owners, managers, and occupants on fire safety measures, emergency procedures, and the importance of compliance with fire codes.

  • Plan Review: Collaborate with architects, engineers, and other stakeholders to review building plans and construction documents, ensuring adherence to fire safety codes and standards.

  • Hazard Identification: Identify potential fire and life safety hazards, such as blocked exits, faulty wiring, inadequate fire protection systems, and hazardous materials storage. Recommend corrective measures to mitigate risks.

  • Emergency Response: Assist in emergency response situations, providing technical expertise and guidance to first responders, occupants, and management during fire incidents and other emergencies.

  • Continual Learning: Stay updated with changes in fire safety codes, regulations, and industry practices. Participate in training and development opportunities to enhance knowledge and skills.

Qualifications:

​

  • Experience: Previous experience as a Fire Inspector, Building Inspector, or related role is preferred. Experience in fire service, emergency management, or safety compliance is advantageous.

  • Regulatory Knowledge: In-depth understanding of local, state, and national fire codes, life safety regulations, and NFPA standards.

  • Analytical Skills: Strong attention to detail and the ability to assess complex situations, identify potential hazards, and recommend effective solutions.

  • Communication: Excellent communication skills for interacting with building owners, occupants, contractors, and emergency responders. Ability to convey technical information clearly and concisely.

  • Problem-Solving: Capability to think critically, analyze situations, and make informed decisions under pressure.

  • Interpersonal Skills: Diplomatic and professional demeanor when dealing with stakeholders during inspections, ensuring a positive and collaborative environment.

  • Certifications: Relevant certifications such as CFPS (Certified Fire Protection Specialist) or ICC (International Code Council) certifications are desirable.

  • Physical Requirements: Ability to navigate various building environments, including climbing stairs and ladders, and performing physical tasks associated with inspections.
